In 2004, the first running of the (Then Boom Box Mile) took place. The race drew the interest of 48 local runners. Sean Berard (4:44) & Merideth Filteau (5:50) won the inaugural race. This was the only year that saw separate races for the men and women.
Over the years, the race has drawn runners from all of the USA. Some of the top runners from the area have traversed this famous course.

Men's Record - Richard Jones of Providence, RI, set the course in 2007, with a time of 4:10.
Women's Record - Laurel Manville of Mansfield, CT, set the women's course in 2021, with a time of 5:09.
Runners will cross over the spot where one of the greatest Presidents, Teddy Roosevelt delivered a non-partisan speech to a massive crowd. He emphasized the importance of character, common sense, honesty, and decency in both public and private life.
